Twenty-three years. That is how long it has been since I last sat this much in a classroom.

Since the beginning of May, I have jumped feet first into gaining new experiences in new areas that previously were like speaking a foreign language to me. I have the photography down but there are a lot of new skills I need to get. My goal by the end of the year is to have the Digital Content Creator, Digital Communications, WordPress and Adult Educator extension certificates from Mount Royal University. I think the biggest learning curve for me is everything social media and the marketing of the content on social media. This week has been especially busy with my Foundations of Social Media and Designing in WordPress classes and attending the extremely informative SocialWest Social Media Conference in Calgary. The conference was especially enlightening as I felt I understood what was being discussed and was able to hold my own talking to some of Calgary’s Social Media rock stars.

As the summer grows closer and the classes begin to wind down, I am going to try to keep on top of implementing much of what I have learned in the past few months as I continue on my path to reinvent my career.
